Meet All 3 Goals of Measure 98

How to Launch a Proven Freshman Transition Course that Helps Students Build the Intrinsic Motivation to Succeed

Measure 98 funding will help high schools increase or expand:

- Career and technical education programs
- College-level educational opportunities
- Dropout prevention strategies

This workshop will explore a dual-credit, whole-school program where students develop a 10-year Career and Education Plan.

You’ll learn about Eastern Promise, one of Oregon's most successful college and career readiness programs, which was modeled on the Get Focused...Stay Focused!® Initiative. Using standards developed through the Freshman Transition Initiative of The George Washington University, Eastern Promise set out to build postsecondary-going culture and to increase access to affordable early college credit.

What you’ll take away from this course:

  • An understanding of why freshman year has a critical impact on completion rates
  • How entering high school freshmen can develop a quantitative online 10-year career and education plan
  • Strategies for using these plans throughout high school for advisory functions and academic coaching
  • About a structured, school-wide program that ensures students are college and/or career ready
  • Best practice models from Eastern Promise schools
